The program we built

Hey there, I'm Juan Diego Torres, MFA student at Ohio State University. Last summer, Jingyuan Kang, Sarah NaHyun Kim (Masters students at Carnegie Mellon), Joshua Igwe (recent OCAD grad), and myself landed an internship with Havas. We were hired to create a first-ever Metaverse Internship, building 4 immersive health & wellness experiences across the metaverse.

We had 9 weeks and a $0 budget.

Between our 15 years of Maya, Blender, and Unity experience, we knew enough to cover each others' gaps. Jingyuan transformed cognitive therapies into playable games in Vibe Chamber. Sarah curated Eclipse, an immersive exhibition space dedicated to hosting fitness influencers live. Joshua built Chronic Escape, a multi-level escape room where players outrun unhealthy life choices. Lastly, I created the Missing Museum, an approachable edu space housing lessons that got censored in conservative climate.

Experiences

The impact we created

In less than 3 months, we brought 500+ UNIQUE PLAYERS to our
worlds in Roblox, Horizon Worlds, Spatial, and AltspaceVR. CCO Eric Weisberg took it on a global tour, generating OVER 300K ORGANIC IMPRESSIONS. These metaverse experiences are live (not Photoshop) and can be played now. After our builds, we established the copy and design elements for THE FIRST METAVERSE INTERNSHIP IN THE WORLD year two. While the program continues, we four will always be the "first."

A special thanks to the small-but-mighty team who brought us in, including Kevin Zengel, Metaverse Lead (and recent Miami Ad School grad) who narratively kept our team on point.
